Philip M. Horowitz Elected President-Elect of American College of Real Estate Lawyers

Eight attorneys of Venable LLP law firm are members of major organization of real estate attorneys
RISMEDIA, Nov. 22 ? The American College of Real Estate Lawyers has elected Venable LLP partner Philip M. Horowitz as its president-elect. Horowitz will serve a year as president-elect beginning in January, and will take over the presidency in 2006. The college is widely regarded as the most prestigious organization for real estate attorneys in the United States.

?The college is, first and foremost, a great group of people,? said Horowitz. ?I feel especially honored that the membership has chosen me as its president-elect. I look forward to continuing my service and to working closely with Portia Morrison, the college’s president in 2005.? Horowitz currently serves as vice president of the college and as member of its Board of Governors.

Venable has eight members in the college, which has a national membership of about 900 real estate attorneys. In addition to Horowitz, the other Venable members are David Belcher, Robert Gottlieb, Jan Guben, Russell Reno, Kevin Shepherd (member of Board of Governors), Stefan Tucker, and James Wright. Shepherd recently became chair-elect of the American Bar Association?s Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section.

Venable managing partner James L. Shea said: ?We?re very pleased that Phil has been chosen for the highest ranking role in the college. This is another extraordinary recognition of Venable?s leadership in the real estate law community, and an indication of Washington?s growth as a center of real estate development.?

A resident partner in Venable?s Washington office, Horowitz focuses his practice on property acquisition and development, commercial leasing and real estate financing.
